We are searching for someone who not only has a passion for pro bono, but a willingness to explore new and improved ways to expand and revitalize the pro bono landscape with each of our projects! 

The Pro Bono Innovator leads process assessment and improvement projects analyzing and transforming pro bono projects in communities across the United States. Working alongside our co-directors of the Business Process Improvement Practice Area at A2J Tech, the Pro Bono Innovator should have a deep understanding of civil legal aid and Private Attorney Involvement (PAI) case placement processes, as well as business process improvement tools and methodologies. 

Responsibilities

  • Write proposals for and lead pro bono assessment and improvement projects
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders
  • Lead in-person and virtual workshops to map out current processes and identify areas for improvement 
  • Lead one-on-one sessions with client and project stakeholders to identify strengths and weaknesses in current pro bono service delivery processes 
  • Create process maps using digital tools 
  • Write reports detailing current state processes, gap analysis, and recommendations for improvement 
  • Outline and develop best practices for pro bono service delivery systems 
  • Communicate regularly to internal and external audiences regarding pro bono innovations and improvements 
  • Innovate tools and processes that expand the landscape of pro bono service delivery systems across the nation!

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a project manager.
  • Proven experience in business process improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
  • Empathy for all stakeholders of a process (i.e., pro bono coordinators, volunteers, and clients receiving pro bono services).
  • Ability to utilize human-centered design approaches and techniques.
  • Well-versed in pro bono service delivery processes and systems.
  • Ability to use technology to organize large amounts of information.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work with many collaborators, both internal and external, while also maintaining the self-motivation to work independently.
  • Great attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of civil legal aid and access to justice.
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly and effectively.
  • Understanding of LSC requirements with regard to the use of PAI volunteers is a plus.

Pay Rate

$60,000 to $85,000 per year for full-time. Pay commensurate with experience.
