A2J Tech is looking for a fully remote, part-time LegalServer Consultant to support LegalServer configuration, troubleshooting, implementation, and other technical client work, as well as scaling our LegalServer practice area.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone with strong LegalServer case management system administration and configuration experience who can translate functional requirements into well-designed, maintainable LegalServer solutions. The consultant will work alongside A2J Tech project managers and the LegalServer practice area lead to implement solutions for legal aid and access-to-justice organizations.

Please note that, while this is initially a part-time position, it may become full-time depending on your availability and the growth of A2J Tech’s LegalServer practice area. Approximately 10-24 hours per week initially, with the opportunity for more billable hours when additional projects are secured.

Responsibilities

  • Work across multiple client LegalServer instances simultaneously, managing configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and implementation work while maintaining clear separation between each organization’s LegalServer environment and requirements.
  • Analyze existing LegalServer configurations to understand system architecture, dependencies, and opportunities to simplify, standardize, or improve workflows.
  • Work with LegalServer 4 and LegalServer 5 user interfaces and support clients with their organization’s implementation of the new LS5 interface.
  • Configure and customize LegalServer processes, profiles, forms, fields, lookups, reports, dashboards, branching logic, and workflows to support intake, eligibility, assignment, case management, and case closing.
  • Configure and troubleshoot advanced tools such as Guided Navigation, Workflows, Advanced Grant Filters, and other LegalServer tools.
  • Support integrations between LegalServer and external systems by identifying appropriate data sources, mapping fields and data structures, and working with reports, APIs, webhooks, and workflow triggers. 
  • Document technical requirements, configuration decisions, dependencies, testing results, and implementation steps so that configurations can be understood and maintained by other LegalServer administrators.
  • Participate in technical design discussions with the A2J Tech LegalServer practice area lead, A2J Tech project managers, and developers to develop sustainable case management solutions for clients’ LegalServer environments. 
  • Consult with the Business Process Improvement team on technology and case management system evaluations as part of intake improvement assessments. 
  • Support the A2J Tech LegalServer practice area lead in scaling the practice area to support more clients, LegalServer implementation work, and access to justice initiatives.

  • LegalServer Survey Questions module
  • LegalServer-Sharepoint integration
  • LegalServer Reports API and other LegalServer API functionality
  • Integrations between LegalServer and external applications

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience administering and configuring LegalServer case management system.
  • Strong understanding of LegalServer's underlying  data  structure and how forms, processes, fields, lookups, modules, and blocks behave and support case management workflows.
  • Experience building and  modifying LegalServer intake and case-management workflows.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex LegalServer configuration issues.
  • Ability to independently investigate an issue, identify its root cause, recommend a solution, and implement the approved configuration.
  • Strong understanding of conditional logic, workflow design, data relationships, and structured data collection.
  • Experience testing configuration changes and identifying potential impacts prior to full implementation.
  • Ability to work from written requirements, workflow diagrams, client verbal or written feedback, or existing configurations and translate them into technical implementation.
  • Ability to distinguish between a configuration issue, data issue, workflow-design issue, user-training issue, and a product limitation.
  • Strong documentation skills and commitment to creating maintainable configurations.
  • Ability to manage multiple client environments and follow established change-management and documentation practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a remote work environment.
  • Passion for and commitment to working on projects that improve access to justice.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working for or consulting with legal aid organizations.
  • Familiarity with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of legal aid intake, eligibility, conflicts, funding, case assignment, grant compliance, and case rejection and closing  processes.
  • Familiarity and experience with Airtable.
  • Experience integrating LegalServer with tools such as Airtable, Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier, Gavel, Fillout, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with other legal case management systems such as Pika, Kemps, and Clio.
  • Experience working with APIs, JSON, webhooks, or other integration concepts.
  • Experience documenting complex systems or developing user and administrator-facing technical documentation.

Pay Rate

$35 - $42 / hour, part-time
